What actually ends the trial
Ultimate Overseer is a self-defeating move at the end of his sequence. Do not burn all your SP trying to empty the large health bar. If you are dying during the middle of the fight, replace damage actions with recovery while the sequence advances.
Recognize the four attack shapes
These are base hit values; the cue tells you which impact to watch.
| Move | Cue | Hits |
|---|---|---|
| Thrust | He approaches and shouts before the sword thrust. | One hit, 12. |
| Overseer Combo | Sword contact followed by a dropkick. | Two hits, 6 each. |
| Warping Dive | An upward slash, then a portal-assisted second slash. | Two hits, 6 each. |
| Warping Backstab | A pause, then a portal behind you. | One piercing hit, 12; follow the portal strike. |
Read moves, not a fixed turn countdown
The sequence starts Hindsight → Thrust → Call for Help → Overseer Combo. He normally has Double Turns, while summons and skipped moves can change how those moves fit into rounds. Keep tracking the named attack rather than assuming he will always collapse on a particular displayed turn.
Hindsight is a support action, but his other action can still be an attack. Recover before the combined incoming damage becomes lethal, not after surviving only the first hit of the pair.
Recovery options available before the trial
Ghost Potion costs 1 SP and gives temporary immunity, with a skipped action afterward. It can cover a difficult attack window but also reduces your next opportunity to heal. Ice Dagger costs 1 NRG and restores party HP and SP. Choose between them based on whether you need to avoid the next attack or restore resources now.

Collect the Paintball Gun afterward
Finish the post-fight conversation to receive the Paintball Gun, then continue Chapter 5. The Pit version does not reproduce the initial Oculet summoning setup; use these animation cues there without assuming an identical opening.
