Chapter 4 · Encounter guide

How to Beat Captain Trotter in Block Tales

Match your attack to Captain Trotter’s current stance, then use Ghost Potion after Drink to avoid Inferno. The warning ends his turn and gives you an action before the charged attack.

Change attacks when the stance changes

Trotter has 40 base HP, 1 DEF and Double Turns. His stance can reject projectiles or melee. Read the stance icon and announcement; switch to the other attack type instead of spending another turn repeating the blocked attack.

Drink → Inferno

Drink applies Charged and warns about Ghost Potion. Use the potion before Inferno if you are following the avoidance plan. The 40-damage piercing attack cannot be blocked or superguarded. Keep 1 SP for the potion and remember that Exhausted costs your following action.

Coin Flip and Barrel Toss cues

Coin Flip has two possible outcomes: one ricochet for 14 damage or three shots for 5 each. Watch whether he throws the coin or starts the quick firing sequence. Barrel Toss bounces twice and can splash the party; follow the barrel through the bounces rather than guarding on release.

Story and Pit encounters

The story battle is at Mount Red Sun before The Ancients. Pit appearances are Floors 49 and 58; Floor 50 is a checkpoint, not another Trotter fight.
