How to Beat Cruel King in Block Tales

Watch the mist implosion for Scepter Strike and the close-range dagger thrust for Freeze. These are different attacks. The story boss has 30 base HP and no base Defense.

The five-move sequence

Scepter Strike → Freeze → Call for Help → Refreshing Heal → Freeze. Call for Help is skipped when enemy slots are full. The heal restores 1 HP to his team and adds DEF Up for two turns.

Guard against lost actions

Both damaging moves deal 5 piercing base damage and can Freeze. Scepter Strike points the staff and forms mist before it implodes; Freeze walks up and uses the Ice Dagger. Watch those separate impact cues. A Freeze can cost you the action you planned for recovery.

Plan for a first clear

You receive Ice Dagger after this story encounter, so it cannot be your first-clear healing method. Use a healing item or a card already obtainable on your save. Do not spend defense-piercing slots solely for a base DEF value this version does not have.

The DX fight is different

Blackrock King, often called Cruel King DX, is the later optional encounter. Its Choke, Famine and Last Stand rules are not part of this story fight. Open the separate guide if you are trying to earn the summon card.
